Bump Update: 38 Weeks Pregnant

Bump Update

August 27, 2019

Happy Tuesday! Coming at you 38 weeks pregnant from the couch, propped up by a thousand pillows, while eating a S’mores Pop Tart. #keepinitreal

Alright, you guys. I’m really hoping this is my last Bump Update because I feel like I’ve been pregnant for 2963 months. When I think back to getting that positive pregnancy test the day after Christmas, it feels like FOREVER ago.

OK, back to my Pop Tart.

🙂

38 Weeks Pregnant Update

SYMPTOMS

All of them. Every single one.

I am SO swollen. I haven’t been able to wear my wedding rings in weeks, and my sausage fingers hurt to bend in the morning. My feet are like Flintstone feet and I can barely fit them into my favorite slides.

My nausea is still around and the exhaustion is unreal. I’m not sleeping well at night – partly insomnia and partly because I have to pee like every couple of hours.

My iron was still low, even after taking SlowFE, so I’m now taking it in the morning and at night, which has helped my energy tremendously. Prior to increasing it, I was feeling very weak and lethargic. It’s a horrible feeling and I’m SO glad it’s gotten better in the last few weeks.

CONTRACTIONS?

Oh yeah. Lots. I’ve been having Braxton Hicks that are not only tight, but getting painful and they take my breath away. I’m also having period cramps that feel like they could turn into real contractions, but they end up fading away.

I’m still not exactly sure what going into labor at home feels like, since my water broke at home with both of my girls. My first was 1 week early and my second was 3 weeks early, so I’ve never had the experience of going into labor at home and timing contractions and then going in.

I’ve been very in tune to my body and each and every pain, so I’ve been on high alert all the time.

BABY’S POSITION + CERVIX

He’s locked and loaded, you guys. He was transverse for a few weeks, but thankfully he turned a few weeks ago. I was stressed out that they were going to have to turn him and I kept hearing horror stories. Thank God he got his act together and is ready to go.

I’ve been dilated 1cm for a few weeks. I go to the doctor today – hoping for some more progress…

WEIGHT GAIN

I actually lost weight at my last appointment (I’m talking like a pound, nothing crazy), and I’m pretty sure my weight gain has slowed since. I’ve stopped weighing myself at home (because really what’s the point?). I think my total weight gain is just below 50 pounds. It’s a lot, but it seems to be what my body wants to do and is on par with what I gained in my last pregnancy, too.

I’m SO looking forward to feeling like myself again. The hardest thing for me about pregnancy is not being able to enjoy my workouts like I used to. I’m a better person when I’m working out and when I can sweat my ass off. It’s that simple.

MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO…

I want to say newborn snuggles because I really, really love those sweet moments and know that they will go away all too soon. BUT. Do you want to know what I’m really looking forward to? Going to the hospital. Getting an epidural. And some alone time with my baby boy before coming back home and into the craziness of our family of 5.

NURSERY PREP

I shared a sneak peek into baby boy’s nursery a few weeks ago, and I haven’t done much else in there yet. Here are some of my favorite finds…

I hear you! I’m 38 weeks and my first kiddo my water broke. I have no clue how you are supposed to labor at home and keep relying on Dr. Google!
