My Kind Of Sweet Home: A Peek Into Baby Boy’s Nursery, Our Family Room Built Ins + Recent Home Finds

Home, Lifestyle, My Kind Of Sweet Home

August 16, 2019

Happy Friday, sweet friends! Wow. What a week. Unpacking and settling in our home at almost 37 weeks pregnant is no joke, you guys. Not going to lie: a few days this week I felt absolutely miserable and hopeless and like we’re destined to live in chaos and among towers of boxes for the rest of our lives. (Dramatic much?)

But, then I would take a nap and feel a bit better about the situation. Sleep really does help everything.

We’re loving our new home. I still walk through and can’t believe it’s ours. A few of you have asked if we built it – no, we didn’t. It’s new construction, but it was built on spec. My husband walked through it last August when it first came on the market, and he loved it. But, they had the sale price way too high, so we moved on. Well, we kept thinking about it and even after seeing a handful of other homes, we still loved this one. I thank God everyday that it worked out because it really does feel like we’re meant to be here.

While we fell in love with the floor plan and design of the home, there were still a few things that we needed to add/change so that it’s perfect for our family – adding family room built ins, installing a home entertainment and security system, window coverings, etc. So, there have been no less than 10 guys in our home each day, helping make ours dreams come true. I am SO looking forward to the day I can be in our home without contractors and workers. Hoping it’ll all be wrapped up in the next week or so.

Also, I’m so glad you guys have been loving the home content. I’ve decided to dedicate Fridays to My Kind Of Sweet Home, where I’ll be sharing updates, favorite finds, decor, tips and tricks and all things home with you.

The Sweet Edit will still be around – in my newsletter. (Not signed up yet?? Click here to get on the list!) I normally send it out every Saturday or Sunday, but it’s been quiet over there for awhile. I will start it up again soon and I’ll share best sellers, fav finds and mama musings with you.

OK, that’s it for today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend…

My Kind of Sweet Home: baby boy's nursery

I can’t tell you how happy I am to be nesting and preparing for baby boy. Since we just moved last week, I didn’t have ANYTHING ready. This week I washed all of his clothes (still have to put them away, but whatevs) and started getting his nursery ready. This little corner is one of my favorites. We still haven’t hung anything on the walls, but that’s coming soon. (And possibly wallpaper – still trying to decide!)

Have you heard of Ruggable yet?? Mamas, listen up. If you’re in the market for a rug, you NEED to check them out – they’re washable rugs. They gifted me this rug, and I’m in love. If you have dogs or kiddos, this rug is a game changer. We have always gone through area rugs way too often – spot cleaning can only go so far. Be sure to order the pad and the cover. The cover is what you’ll be able to throw into the wash and the pad keeps it in place when you roll it out.

And guess what?? You can save 15% off your entire order with code FUNSUZANNE15. Yay!

My Kind of Sweet Home: family room built ins

YAY! Our family room built ins are in and I don’t think I could love them more. I love the clean lines of the floating shelves, and the cabinets for toys, books, and games storage. They also help make the room feel cozier. I will share more photos once I decorate the shelves…

We haven’t done much with the family room yet since we were waiting on the built ins, but here’s a look at our slip covered sofa and console table. (And yes, the table needs to be turned around.) Our family room rug arrived and we’ll be putting it down today – I CAN’T wait! I swear, rugs are my love language. I think they make the biggest instant difference in a room and they’re the one thing that I will definitely splurge on in a room.
