Bump Style: Second Trimester Maternity Outfit Ideas

Looks, Spring, Summer

June 20, 2019

Happy Thursday, sweet friends!

Now that I’m entering the 3rd trimester (how can that be??), I’ve decided to do a HUGE round up of 2nd Trimester outfit ideas and styling tips.

This isn’t a fancy post – I literally scrolled through my camera roll to see my #ootd photos and uploaded them to share. But, that means these are real outfits. So, there’s that.

Also, there’s a mix of maternity and non-maternity pieces, so you’ll be able to wear a lot of these looks after babe, too.

OK, time for coffee. Thank you for stopping by!

XO

(In case you need more inspo, head to the bottom of the post for a round up of all maternity style posts I’ve shared so far!)

You’ll see a few staple maternity items on repeat throughout this post, and this maternity tank is one of them. They come in a pack of 2 and are less than $27, which is a total steal. This colorblock cardigan is less than $30 and looks way more expensive. It’s lightweight enough for chilly summer days.  My exact maternity jeans are sold out, but these are very similar and on sale.

The best part of being pregnant in summer? We can retire our pants. This maternity midi pencil skirt is great for both work and casual wear. It’s cotton and stretchy, so it’s beyond comfortable. I’m wearing medium. I like to throw on my favorite distressed denim jacket over any look to dress it down. It’s on sale for 33! I’m wearing medium.

I’ve been wearing this striped cotton cardigan more than is socially acceptable. It’s SO easy and great for summer, since it’s super lightweight. I sized up to medium, but I think I’d prefer small. These joggers are sold out but I linked a similar pair in a maternity style.

Throw this distressed denim jacket over any outfit, and it will instantly elevate your cool factor. The best part? It’s less than $40. I sized up to medium for pregnancy. My $13 striped maternity tee is a maternity staple. I’m wearing medium. These maternity roll-over waist linen pants are AMAZING and they’ll be the only pants I wear this summer. I’m wearing medium.

I picked up this striped maternity dress for our babymoon to Miraval last month, and it’s been on repeat ever since. It’s super flattering (I’m guessing that’s why there are SO many horizontal stripes in maternity clothes). It’s less than $25. I’m wearing medium. This cotton cardigan is $18 and I’ve worn it SO much already. I love that it’s lightweight enough for summer, and I have worn it over my dresses or over leggings and a tank. Love. I’m wearing medium, but would rather have a small. I’d say it runs a little big.
2nd Trimester Outfit Ideas + Styling Tips

For my every day mommin’ life, I’ve been living in these full panel maternity leggings. I wear them to workout and then to run post-gym errands. They’re the less expensive version of the Ingrid & Isabel leggings at Nordstrom, and honestly I like them even better. I’m wearing small. This thermal hoodie cardigan is probably one of the most worn items in my closet. It’s worth every penny and lightweight enough for summer.

This tank + maxi skirt is like a makeshift maternity maxi dress and I’m all about it. Yep, here’s that maternity tank again. I paired it with this maternity maxi skirt, which is crazy comfortable. It has a full panel, but you can easily fold it over if you don’t want your bump covered. I’m wearing medium. This short sleeved cardigan is from last year, but here’s a similar version. My leopard sandals are a quick and easy way to chic up any look.

For these not-yet-summer days, this look fits the bill. This non-maternity colorblock tunic is a reader favorite and has been a best-seller almost every month since I first shared it this spring. I sized up to medium for the bump, and actually could wear a large now that I’m in the third trimester. I will continue to wear the medium after babe, too. These maternity jeans are old, but here is a very similar pair. I love a distressed boyfriend denim with a bump. These blush mules are sold out but I linked a similar pair that is on sale! Love them.

See? Another striped dress. I’m telling you. So flattering. This maternity dress is less than $22 and has held up so well after a few washings. I’m wearing medium. This colorblock cardiganis less than $30 and looks way more expensive. It’s lightweight enough for chilly summer days. And if you haven’t tried these Shoreline Converse yet, it’s time. They’re more feminine that the original Converse, and won’t make it feel like you’re wearing paddles on your feet.

Did you see? I shared this whole look earlier this week on the blog. This top is sold out, but I linked a whole lot of golden yellow options. LOVE this color for summer.

Yep, I wear this distressed denim jacket a lot. Anytime I feel like my outfit is missing something, I throw it on and it does the trick. It’s on sale for $33. I’m wearing medium. This tee is non-maternity and easily one of my favorite Amazon finds ever. It is SO soft and covers the booty, which is currently a must. And it’s only $17. I’m wearing medium. These full panel maternity leggings are the only ones I’ll wear. (Don’t worry, I have 3 pairs.) They’re the less expensive version of the pair at Nordstrom, and I like them even better. I wear small.

Yep, more stripes. Am I a broken record? This maternity tee is $13 and has me convinced that I don’t need to spend a fortune on maternity clothes. I’m wearing medium. This cardigan is great for chilly weather, but probably too hot for summer. My exact one is sold out but I linked a similar one. It’s less than $40 and reminds me of a Madewell cardigan. These maternity jeans are THE only pair I wear on repeat. I’ve tried SO many pairs, and these are hands down my favorite. And they’re less than $55.

This short sleeve maternity dress (c/o) is easily one of my favorites! It comes in a whole bunch of colors. I’m wearing large because they were sold out of medium, but it works because I’ll be able to wear it into the third trimester, too. I’ve been wearing my summer cardigan more than is socially acceptable. I’m wearing small, my exact is sold out but I’m linking a similar style.

I bought the Jessica Simpson maternity jeans and really like them but they feel tight and not stretchy at all so they are uncomfortable when sitting down. Would you suggest I size up or do they stretch out? Love your stuff and so glad you are around to give me some ideas!!

    • suzanne says:

Hi Allison! Hmmm, mine are pretty stretchy. I would wear them a few more times to see if they stretch!
