Target Fall Try On Part Two: Universal Thread

Fall, Looks, Try-Ons

September 19, 2018

Happy Wednesday, sweet friends! Finally! I got it done. Here’s Part Two of my Target Fall Try On.

Today’s try on is all from Target’s Universal Thread line. Rarely can I walk by it in the store without taking a look because it totally speaks my language. Most of their pieces are easy, versatile and casual.

Some of you have requested a denim try on and I’m sharing my favorite pair in this post (see the first photo). I’m also sharing a few misses in the post. Most of the pieces were a hit, but there were some that don’t deserve to be in your closet. (Too harsh?)

If you missed Part One of my Target Fall Try On, you can see it here

OK, time for all of the coffee. As always, thank you for stopping by!

Target fall try on, button down shirt, jeans, booties

striped button down tie front shirthigh rise button fly jeans booties (3 colors)

Let’s start classic, shall we? I didn’t know if I would like the fit of this striped button down tie front shirt, but I loved it. It’s relaxed, but doesn’t feel sloppy, which is always a fine line. It’s longer in the back and covers the booty, which is always a win. I’m wearing XS, so if you’re in between I would size down.

These high rise button fly jeans. You guys. LOVE. Overall, I’m not a fan of Target’s denim. I don’t think you have to spend an arm and a leg for a great pair of jeans, but I have never loved how Target’s jeans fit. BUT. These jeans are the exception. They are amazing. The fit is awesome. They’re stretchy, but not too much. High rise, but not crazy high that I can’t breathe. And I love the exposed button fly detail. So cute. They run true to size. (See more detailed shot at the bottom of the post.)

Target fall try on, plaid tank, high rise jeans, cardigan, booties

plaid drop waist tank | high rise button fly jeans | cardigan (linking similar because I can’t find the exact one online. Comes in 4 colors) | booties (3 colors)

I didn’t get this plaid drop waist tank, but I think I need to order it ASAP because I’ve been thinking about it since I tried it on. It’s the perfect piece to transition from late summer to fall. Throw on this cardigan and you’re good to go.

For some reason, this exact cardigan isn’t available online yet. I will keep checking. In the meantime, I’m linking this similar cardigan that I also tried on and liked.

Target fall try on, floral tank, black denim, booties

floral tank | black denimbooties (3 colors)

This is a sweet late summer look that I just love. This floral tank is cropped just enough that it feels a ….

These black denim were a hit for me. They’re high rise and comfy. If you can get away with black denim at work, I highly suggest these. They run true to size.

Target fall try on, muscle tank, high rise button fly jeans, booties, cardigan

muscle tank (4 colors) | high rise button fly jeansbooties (3 colors) | cardigan (4 colors)

This muscle tank is my new favorite tank. I LOVE it and I’m ordering it in every color. It’s long enough to wear with leggings and is the perfect layering piece for fall. It runs big. I’m wearing XS and it’s still a bit loose, which is how I like my tanks.

Can you have too many cardigans? Asking for a friend. This cardigan is pretty darn perfect. The color. The length. It’s not scratchy. And it has pockets.

Target fall try on, woven tank, black denim, booties

woven tank | black denimbooties (3 colors)

I picked up this woven tank because this color is so gorgeous. It’s a dressier tank, so you can wear it to work alone or under this blazer.

Target fall try on, pink button down, jeans, and booties

button down | distressed mid-rise denim | booties (3 colors)

They call this button down red, but I’m here to tell you that it’s definitely more pink. Like completely pink. Anyway, it’s SO soft. It’s twill, so it’s super casual and cozy. I’m wearing XS and it’s still baggy and oversized, so I would size down. I like it better tied. If you have a long torso, it’s a good way to make your legs look longer.

Alright, you guys. These jeans are a miss for me. When I picked them to try on, I didn’t think the wash was so faded, but when I saw them in the photos, I hated them. I also don’t like the stitching. And yes, I’m very picky when it comes to denim.

Target fall try on, striped jumpsuit and mules

striped jumpsuit mules

What do you guys think of this striped jumpsuit? It’s not something I would normally wear, but I was oddly drawn to it. I didn’t end up getting it because I’m not sure I would wear it, but if you’re a fan of jumpsuits, this one would be a cute addition to your collection. It would also look cute with this denim jacket for fall. I’m wearing XS.

I went out of my comfort zone with these white mules and I’m not mad at it. Granted, I’m not sure how practical they are with 2 kiddos under 4 years old, but still. They’re cute.

Target fall try on, striped v neck tee, high rise jeans, mules

striped v neck tee | high rise button fly jeans | mules

I can’t say no to stripes. Ever. This $8 striped v neck tee is a no brainer. Wearing XS.

Here’s a more detailed shot of the high rise button fly jeans. I didn’t get them (I have WAY TOO MANY jeans already), but I can’t stop thinking about them, so…

Target fall try on, tie front top, denim skirt, booties

tie front top | denim skirt booties (3 colors)

Alright you guys. I wanted to like this tie front topbut it’s definitely a miss for me. The fit is SO weird. It’s very short in the front. You can’t tell because of how I’m standing, but it’s just millimeters away from showing my belly and being a midriff top. It also does nothing to flatter me. It’s blousy, but not in a cute way. I’m wearing XS.

This denim skirt takes me back to middle school, but in a good way. (Not in a way that I had to deal with those bitchy girls who thought being mean to me would make them feel better about themselves.) Ok, anyway. I love this skirt. It’s super stretchy, which makes it comfortable and it doesn’t ride up on my hips like so many denim skirts do. Dress it down with a band tee and your favorite kicks. I’m wearing size 2.

Target fall try on, gret tee, denim skirt, cardigan, and booties

gray tee (11 colors) | denim skirt | cardigan (linking similar because I can’t find the exact one online.)booties (3 colors)

This is my kinda #ootd. If you don’t have this $8 tee in at least 3 colors for fall, you might want to rethink that. It’s a perfect layering piece for fall.

For some reason, this exact cardigan isn’t available online yet. I will keep checking. In the meantime, I’m linking this similar cardigan that I also tried on and liked.

Target fall try on, utility jacket, high rise jeans, booties

utility jacket (4 colors) | high rise button fly jeans booties (3 colors)

By now, you guys know I’m a total sucker for jackets. I’ll wear the same tee a couple times a week (don’t judge) and just switch up the jacket. This utility jacket is so cute! They didn’t have my size, so I’m wearing a medium here. I would say size down because it does run big.
