Crossbody Casual: Bump Style

January 3, 2017

It’s a new year! (Still not sure how it’s possible it’s 2017, but I guess I’ll roll with it.) While I relish everything cozy and Christmas, I have all the heart eyes for the upcoming spring. I know, I know, it’s like 3 months away, but STILL. It’s coming. Alright, let’s talk about the crossbody bag…

I’ve always been a tote girl, but lately I’ve fallen more in love with a good crossbody. Hands-free mama, ready to take on the world. Or, at least juggle a toddler and all of the things that go with her.

If you’ve followed my blog for awhile, you know that while I love a good deal, I tend to invest in handbags. They’re my jam. So, when The Mister got me this one for Christmas, well, I might have peed a little bit. (Pregnancy problems?)

I’ve linked my top crossbody picks in the widget at the bottom of the post. (And they won’t all break the bank!)

And yep, I’m still wearing my trusty jacket. I found a less expensive version here. You just can’t go wrong.

Oh, and if you’re pregnant, you NEED these leggings. They’re the only ones I wear.

Happy New Year, sweet friends!

XO

Braelyn collects rocks, too. But only the most special ones. I almost always have 2 or 3 in my pockets, purse, and cup holder 🙂

Love the new tote! Well done, Santa Russ! I got a beautiful Tory Burch tote for Christmas. Big enough for my laptop, files, and multitude of lip glosses! It’s a special kind of joy.

HI! I’M SUZANNE…

After working as a fashion executive for almost a decade, I’m now a stay at home mama to 3 kids and live on the North Shore of Chicago. I spend my days shopping online, decorating my new home and trying to get in a good workout, all while trying to play with my kids and getting the baby to sleep. Our day started like this, and ended with my middl Our day started like this, and ended with my middle girl in the emergency room with what we thought was a broken finger. (It’s not! Thank God.)

I accidentally crunched my girl’s fingers in our front door tonight and I’m not sure I’ve ever felt so badly in my life.

There is no pain like when one of my children is hurt. But to think that I (accidentally) caused that pain? My heart hurt in a way I’ve never experienced.

My mama instincts took over and I did all I could to take care of my girl - snuggles, frozen peas for her finger and Frozen on the TV until The Mister got home and took her to the ER.

The second they walked out the door, my tears fell. I called my mom. I texted my friend. Then I hopped on Stories to share that I felt like the worst mom. I felt guilty and just so damn awful. And as always, you comforted me and helped me feel like I was OK.

Thank you to everyone who sent me messages sharing your own stories, and to those of you who reminded me of grace and accidents and being human.

My girl is back home now. She’s all smiles with new stickers from the hospital and cards from her big sister, proudly showing off her little splint on her finger. She is brave and full of life and I couldn’t feel more grateful.

This post is for the mama who has felt the pain of screwing up. (So, it’s for all of us.) I don’t have any advice but to encourage you to talk to your people. Don’t keep it in. Cry. Give yourself grace. And just keep loving those little ones.

Ok. Off to snuggle with my girl.

Before I fall asleep and fail to make it to midnight, I wanted to take a chance to thank you for all you’ve provided this year. Instagram gets a bad rap, but it truly does feel like we’ve made it through this tough year together.

From our early morning chats over on stories during the first few weeks of the pandemic, to your support when I opened up about my sobriety journey, to our collective joyous sigh when Biden/Harris saved democracy, the community we have created in this corner of the internet is a true bright spot of 2020 for me.
