April Amazon Haul (Including Hits + Misses)

April 23, 2019

Happy Tuesday, sweet friends!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We were visiting my family in Wisconsin, and it was SO beautiful outside.

OK, I wanted to get this post out yesterday, but after a 3 hour drive home with the kiddos, I just couldn’t do it. Re-entry is hard.

So, here it is! My April Amazon haul, complete with hits and misses. Most of my finds this month were hits, but I do have a few misses, too.

Stay tuned because I’ll be sharing my non-fashion related Amazon finds soon!

XO

HITS

This floral top is a bit of a departure from my normal neutral style and I was pretty surprised when I put it on and loved it. It’s non-maternity, so I sized up to a medium. The material is thin, but not too thin that it feels icky. For $14, it’s a great spring and summer top. These straw earrings are total summer must-haves. They’re lightweight, come in a few styles and are less than $12.

I’ll be wearing this striped maternity dress all spring and summer long. It’s comfortable and stretchy, so it will grow with the bump. I sized up to medium. It comes in a bunch of colors and patterns (floral!), and is only $22. It rivals the dresses I’ve tried on from Nordstrom and A Pea In The Pod.

I absolutely love this colorblock cardigan. It’s soft, long enough that it totally covers the booty and is less than $27. It comes in 8 colors, and I already have another color in my cart. I sized up to a medium.

Another look at my colorblock cardigan, this time with my new favorite maternity tank. You guys. If you’re looking for a maternity tank that you can wear to layer under your favorite cardigan or alone with denim shorts this summer, this is the one. It actually comes as a part of a 2 pack and they’re less than $27 for two. I sized up to a medium and it will be perfect even for my 9 month bump. They also have the tee version, which also gets crazy good reviews.

I have this Daily Ritual tee in the white and navy stripe, and I’ve shared my love for it quite a bit. I ordered this black and white version and it’s just as good. This top is SO soft and a little stretchy, and it covers the booty. It’s perfect if you have a bump (and you’ll be able to wear it after, too). I sized up to a medium. It’s totally shocking that it’s only $14 and could easily be double that. It comes in 7 colors and I’ll be ordering another one.

Another look at my tee in this #ootd shot. I’ll be recreating this look at least 42 times this spring and summer.

If you choose anything from this Amazon haul, it should probably be these $15 sunnies. I have no idea how they’re only $15, but I’m not going to ask any questions. I just might be done spending an arm and a leg on sunnies, because KIDS. And when they’re this chic, I just don’t have to. I have them in the Black Frame (Glossy Finish) frames.

Yes, these fuzzy pink slippers are a lot. But, they’re comfy and cute, so. I’m in. They feel more like sandals than slippers, but I’m not going to wear these babies outside.

Gone are the days when I’m going to pose in my sports bra, so just take my word on this one. If you are pregnant or nursing and you have been looking for a supportive, comfortable sports bra, look no further. This is THE only sports bra I wore when I was pregnant and nursing with my girls, and I just ordered another one for this pregnancy. The straps are velcro and completely adjustable – and you can also take them off so that you can nurse easily in the bra. It’s a total must have and totally worth every penny.

MISSES

Alright, I wanted to like this polka dot dress. But, it’s just too much material. I sized up to a medium, so maybe a small would be better, but it felt like a tent on me. It would probably work if you’re taller (I’m 5’6″), but it’s not for me. Back it goes.

This maxi tee dress is so cute. In theory. The material is thin, so it will show every single lump and bump. Which, for me currently, is a lot. I just couldn’t do it. Back it goes. (I’m wearing medium.)

OK, I contemplated saving this dress for post-pregnancy. Because with the bump, it’s shockingly short. Whoa. Like, not meant for public. I’m wearing medium.

Hi Constance! Yes! It still fits. It’s pretty flowy and I’d say runs big. I hope that helps! (And congratulations!) xo

HI! I’M SUZANNE…

After working as a fashion executive for almost a decade, I’m now a stay at home mama to 3 kids and live on the North Shore of Chicago. I spend my days shopping online, decorating my new home and trying to get in a good workout, all while trying to play with my kids and getting the baby to sleep. Mom life is hard, but it can be sweet… XO

New year, new kitchen stools.   I love seeing h New year, new kitchen stools.

I love seeing how just small adjustments can make big changes in our home. I swapped out our old stools (they are ivory, from our old house and just didn’t work with the white kitchen) with black stools and I love the difference.

Our day started like this, and ended with my middl Our day started like this, and ended with my middle girl in the emergency room with what we thought was a broken finger. (It’s not! Thank God.)

I accidentally crunched my girl’s fingers in our front door tonight and I’m not sure I’ve ever felt so badly in my life.

There is no pain like when one of my children is hurt. But to think that I (accidentally) caused that pain? My heart hurt in a way I’ve never experienced.

My mama instincts took over and I did all I could to take care of my girl - snuggles, frozen peas for her finger and Frozen on the TV until The Mister got home and took her to the ER.

The second they walked out the door, my tears fell. I called my mom. I texted my friend. Then I hopped on Stories to share that I felt like the worst mom. I felt guilty and just so damn awful. And as always, you comforted me and helped me feel like I was OK.

Thank you to everyone who sent me messages sharing your own stories, and to those of you who reminded me of grace and accidents and being human.

My girl is back home now. She’s all smiles with new stickers from the hospital and cards from her big sister, proudly showing off her little splint on her finger. She is brave and full of life and I couldn’t feel more grateful.

This post is for the mama who has felt the pain of screwing up. (So, it’s for all of us.) I don’t have any advice but to encourage you to talk to your people. Don’t keep it in. Cry. Give yourself grace. And just keep loving those little ones.

Ok. Off to snuggle with my girl.

Before I fall asleep and fail to make it to midnight, I wanted to take a chance to thank you for all you’ve provided this year. Instagram gets a bad rap, but it truly does feel like we’ve made it through this tough year together.

From our early morning chats over on stories during the first few weeks of the pandemic, to your support when I opened up about my sobriety journey, to our collective joyous sigh when Biden/Harris saved democracy, the community we have created in this corner of the internet is a true bright spot of 2020 for me.

Thank you, thank you. For allowing me to be real and share how tough and beautiful it all can be.

Cheers (sparkling water) to 2021! Here’s to being brave, kind and full of hope.
