The Sweet Edit | No. 50

Happy Friday, sweet friends! It’s another Sweet Edit!

“Taking care of yourself is part of taking care of your kids.” 

I found that quote on Pinterest and it might be my favorite yet.

Am I the only one who needs to remind myself this daily? As moms, we are last on the list. And no, I’m not playing the martyr or feeling sorry for myself. It’s just part of the gig.

There are only so many hours in the day and it can be damn near impossible to find time for myself. But, that’s when I remember that taking care of myself truly is part of taking care of my kids. It’s that whole “put your oxygen mask on first, and then help your child” thing. 

These days, taking care of myself doesn’t mean a spa day followed by a boozy dinner. (HA! Could you imagine.) It means taking 15 minutes to read a chapter or two of my book before my eyes close at the end of the day. It means scheduling an hour to work out and sweat out the toxins. It means getting up early to enjoy my coffee in peace.
