Focusing on these challenging ‘first’ experiences with sobriety – the sober summer, the sober wedding, the sober holiday – helped me stay in touch with how sobriety was impacting my life. And let me tell you: the self-confidence that you build when you dedicate yourself really experiencing these sober firsts, even when they’re hard, is a self-confidence that you can rely on in every moment that comes after.
