Sunday Sweet Edit

October 16, 2022

Hi, sweet friends! I took a break from The Sunday Sweet Edit last week, but we’re back today! A lot to catch up on… I hope you have a wonderful week!

(This post contains affiliated links.)

on the podcasts…

You have two episodes to catch up on! Herschel Walker’s campaign is in trouble bc he’s a hypocrite (WHAT) and Kim K is a…crypto gifter. Whoa.

Last week, Jay brought us up to date on the Wisconsin Senate race and why it’s not looking great for the Dems. (Sorry, Mom.) Also: Kanye west needs to be cancelled.

The One With OJ Simpson and Dead Duck Day Brand New Information

Today Jay and Suzanne commemorate two infamous 1990s events – OJ Simpson’s Ford Bronco slow speed police chase and… Dead Duck Day? Plus, on this week’s Fibronostalgia – Did you know you could break a Hypercolor shirt? Jay and Suzanne know, because they did! And Suzanne’s fibronostalgia breaks the fourth wall to examine the meaning that nostalgia has in our lives. Follow Jay on Instagram & Twitter, and Suzanne on Instagram!

SO MUCH GOOD STUFF on The Sober Mom Life! I chatted with Dr. Brooke Scheller about what alcohol does to our minds, bodies, hormones, gut health… literally EVERYTHING. Then I talk with Casey of The Hello Someday podcast! We talk about how damn hard new motherhood is (and she shares THE funniest story about her husband and I’m sure he loves that she’s made it public LOL).

Finally, our Real Sober Moms bonus episodes are here! It’s like The Real Housewives, without the booze and craziness. 🙂 We kick it off with Jayme – if you don’t relate to hitting rock bottom, you will love her story.

The Sober Summer Series: Content Birthday to Me The Sober Mom Life

I just had my 46th birthday, and as I reflect on my goals for this year, to be ‘happy’ isn’t one of them. For me, happiness now seems unsustainable, fleeting, and performative. I’m seeking different feelings entirely in this year of my life – contentment, gratitude and joy. If you’re preparing for your first sober birthday and you don’t feel happy at the moment, don’t let that mean anything about your relationship with alcohol and sobriety. It can be easy to put on nostalgic rose colored glasses and think that you were happy when we were drinking. I suspect though, that if you’re listening to this podcast, you were not happy when alcohol was in your life. So, remove ‘happy’ from the table when you’re trying to figure out how you want to feel. What feelings do you really want? For me, those are the sustainable and rooted feelings of contentment, gratitude and joy.How about you? Get more of my thoughts on my birthday and my feelings on happiness over on my Substack, Sober for Good:  https://suzannewarye.substack.com/Community makes all the difference. what I wore last week…

Suzanne wearing a fleece shacket, denim jeans, and Prada clogs

This look is giving 90’s high school vibes and I’m HERE for it.

Suzanne wearing a black puff sleeve top, black overalls, and combat boots

I’m here for all black all the time, and these overalls are PERFECT without feeling too big or too baggy.
