My Favorite Fall Color Combo + 10 Podcasts I’m Loving

Fall, Looks

October 1, 2020

Hi, sweet friends. It’s the first day of October and I’m kicking off the month with my favorite fall color combo: camel + black.

Head to the bottom of the post for a round up of 10 podcasts I’m listening to now and my thoughts about politics and why I’m no longer shying away from the issue…

I ordered this sweater while the temps were still in the 80’s and now that they’ve dropped, I will be wearing it on repeat. It comes in a few colors, but this rust (Tuscan Earth) color is SO pretty and perfect for fall. I’m wearing small.

I bought this leopard camera bag during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year. Sadly, it’s sold out, but I’ve linked similar below.

10 PODCASTS I’M LOVING

I listen to podcasts ALL THE TIME. While I’m working, driving, getting ready, running, cleaning the kitchen. You get it. If I have time to myself, chances are I’m listening to a podcast.

These days, I’m listening to a lot of politics, and if you follow me on IG, you probably saw my Stories yesterday. This is no longer about politics. It’s about decency and our democracy, so I can no longer shy away from bringing it up here.

The political podcasts I listen to are mostly Democratic, but some have both sides represented. (And by both sides, I don’t mean Trump Republicans. I mean classic Republicans. No conspiracy theories allowed.)

POD SAVE AMERICA | This has been my favorite political podcast since 2016. It’s informative, funny and snarky.

SMARTLESS | OMG. Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes interview guests, but I don’t even need the interviews. Just listening to the guys talk and interact with each other is enough. They’re hilarious and I literally LOL.

ARMCHAIR EXPERT | I’ve been listening to this podcast since the beginning and it’s been a steady fave. Dax Shepard provides insightful commentary and interviews celebs and experts. It’s a great mind opening exercise for me.

HACKS ON TAP | David Axelrod (D) and Mike Murphy (R) discuss and analyze the latest political developments. They both have years of political campaign experience, so it’s neat to listen to an inside discussion. Murphy is hilarious and helps keep it light at times.

EVERYTHING ICONIC | Danny Pellegrino breaks down reality TV and is so damn funny. I just love him so much and always look forward to his take on the Housewives and his Luann impression.

CONAN O’BRIEN NEEDS A FRIEND | I’ve always loved Conan’s humor, and I look forward to a new episode each week. He interviews celebs, but the funniest part is always his interaction with his assistant, Sona.

MY FAVORITE MURDER | I know I’m probably the last person on Earth to discover this one, but I just did this summer and then immediately binged it. I love that it’s two women and it’s one of the most successful podcasts ever. And, they’re funny. While talking about murder. Not easy to do.

BATTLEGROUND | David Plouffe (Obama’s campaign manager) and Steve Schmidt (Republican strategist) break down the upcoming election. They’re crazy knowledgable and it’s a must listen, especially now.

UNLOCKING US | Brene Brown is good for my soul and provides a much needed break from the politics of the moment.

CAMPAIGN HQ | Very inside baseball. David Plouffe (again) interviews political minds and provides an in depth look at the upcoming election.

The Bulwark is a pretty entertaining, cathartic political podcast too. Never Trumper perspective. Thanks for the recs above!

    • suzanne says:

Yes, I’ve been listening to that lately, too. Thanks for the reminder! I love Charlie Sykes’ take on things.

  2. Julia says:

I went in a road trip this weekend and listened to Smartless and Hacks on Tap. They’re both great! Thanks for the recommendations!

  3. Christy says:

Thank you! These are fantastic recommendations! Also, check out Kelly Corrigan Wonders podcast – and her new show on PBS, Tell Me More (her first two interviews on the show were Bryan Stevenson and James Corden). The podcast and TV show have a very format and they address different topics – but every interview is thoughtful and with Kelly’s true and real sense of humor! Highly recommen both!
