Oh, the Third Trimester. So many mixed emotions…
Overwhelming excitement to meet this little babe who’s been growing inside of me for 9 months. Sadness that this is the last time I will feel those sweet kicks. Joy that our family of 3 will soon become a family of 4.
And…frustration when I got dressed this morning and thought: “DUUUUUDE. I’m so over getting dressed.” There are so many different curves that in the first and second trimesters are exciting and new, and by the third trimester are uncomfortable and just, well…BIG.
While I love getting dressed up, it’s just not realistic for my everyday mom on-the-go lifestyle. Thank goodness for my third trimester essentials. I need to be comfortable, but I also don’t want to compromise my style. Gone are the days you need to retire from being stylish and dress like you don’t have a figure anymore (Ps- you totally do! And it’s beautiful.)
I like to keep it pretty simple when I’m pregnant, and when I find something that works, it immediately becomes a part of my third trimester essentials, and I stock up. Like my favorite maternity tees. It comes in SO many cute colors for fall.
(And even though I’m pregnant in the middle of winter, most of these picks would work year round. For summer, just choose a lighter weight cardigan and swap out the tees for tanks.)
Here are my third trimester essentials to help keep you stylish (and comfortable!) throughout the home stretch…

THIRD TRIMESTER ESSENTIALS
CARDIGANS

Cardigan is from last year, but THIS is my new favorite! | tee | Denim (similar) | Boots
The best thing about cardigans? (Other than the whole covering the booty thing…) They can easily transition into postpartum, so it doesn’t feel like you’re wasting money on clothing that has an expiration date. They’re perfect to throw on over a nursing tank and you can look put together enough to go out in public.
NURSING BRAS

Here’s that whole comfort thing again. I started wearing nursing bras at the beginning of the third trimester, and I haven’t looked back. I’ve linked my favorite brand, which is available at both Nordstrom and Target. They’re the only ones I wear, so I don’t want to recommend anything else!
TEES + SKINNY JEANS

Because when you’re this big on top, you’ve gotta keep it small on the bottom. There are so many great options for skinny jeans, and you don’t have to spend a fortune. Although, if you plan on getting pregnant again, I highly suggest investing in a good pair, like this one. I bought them when I was pregnant with Harper and have worn them constantly during both pregnancies.
LEGGINGS

At this point, I’ve pretty much shouted my love for these leggings from every rooftop and mountaintop imaginable. They’re just that good. I struggled trying to find leggings that I could wear and wash repeatedly and wouldn’t wear out and become totally see-through. These babies have held up. And these leggings are less than $15! Super score.
COMFORTABLE KICKS

(Duh.) Oh and ps – I just picked up these beauties the other day. Because they’re GOLD. You guys. So cute.
A MANI + PEDI
Because you’re in the home stretch and it’s been a looooong 9 months. And sometimes you just need a little something pretty to make you feel better.

This gave me so many great gift ideas for my sister in law! Great post!
I agree with all these essentials! I was wearing mostly maxi dresses during the third trimester of both my pregnancies because it was in summer. Good luck with everything!
Belle | One Awesome Momma
My daughter lived in leggings and great looking sweaters during the end of her pregnancy. Comfortable shoes are important and don’t have to compromise on style.
I love this list. For once it wasn’t a list of things that I would never actually use!!!
These all looks super comfy! Congrats on your little, hope you have a great third trimester!
love those new rose sneaks!
Yup, yup, yup! Agreed! Cardigans are always such a great way to elevate a jeans and tee.
