Hi, sweet friends. It’s Friday! We made it. Another looooong week at home. Are you hanging in there? I met with my fav photographer, Melissa of Iron + Honey, for a socially-distanced photoshoot on Wednesday and it felt SO DAMN GOOD. I curled my hair. I did my makeup. I WORE MASCARA.
In my pre-coronavirus life, I would meet with Melissa once a month. We would shoot 4-5 looks in an hour. I dreaded the shoots. Not because of Melissa – I love her and the highlight of the shoots was getting to see her and catch up.
I dreaded them because, well, everything else. The getting ready. The planning the looks. The posing. The photos.
This time, it was different. As soon as Illinois allowed a socially-distanced photoshoot outdoors, I texted Melissa. I was so excited for a little normalcy – to have just a little peek into the good ol’ days.
I know we’re still staying home. We’re still under Shelter In Place orders in Illinois, and I’m choosing to trust science and our Governor.
We’re doing what we have to do now, in the hope that we will be able to get back to life when it’s time. When it’s safe.
Hang in there, sweet friends. Try to (safely) find little slivers of your old life when you can. It helps.
(And Happy Early Mother’s Day!)
XO

The only thing I want for Mother’s Day is to see my mom – but she lives out of state and my husband works in the medical field (with some positive Covid patients), so we can’t risk the exposure to her. Can’t wait for this all to end so we can celebrate Mother’s Day properly together!
I’m so glad you were able to get out for a photo shoot. I can feel the joy it brought you! One thing I want for Mother’s Day that I cant buy online is High School graduation for my senior. It breaks my ❤️
For Mother’s Day, I would love some time alone…even if it is just to go to the bathroom 🙂
The one thing I want for mother’s day that can’t be bought is a nap especially with a rough night. Two kids were up in the middle of the night!
I just want some time to work on a craft or two in peace and quiet.
All I want for Mother’s Day is continued snuggles from my kiddos and NOT to have to do any meal planning or dishes! ?
For Mother’s Day, I would like to make it through a meal without my two teens arguing over something 🙂
I would love 8 hours uninterrupted sleep this Mother’s Day, but it’s not likely to happen.
Ha, I’m SO with you, Linda!
To be able to read in silence.
Ahhhh, THE BEST.
For mothers day, I made a wish that I would have a loving relationship with my sons for as long as I shall live. What more could I want out of our relationship. 🙂
Wow, I love this SO much. Thanks for sharing, Cecilia. <3
