Hi, sweet friends!
First things first: if you would’ve told me 2 years ago when I was pregnant with baby girl that I would be posting photos of my in my sports bra on the Internet, I would have probably cried with tears of laughter (and tears of sadness and confusion and happiness because pregnancy hormones).
Recently, I’ve gotten asked a lot how to stay motivated to workout as a busy work at home mama. You guys. I get it. It’s not easy. There will ALWAYS be a reason not to work out. There will ALWAYS be little ones who need something from you. There will ALWAYS be a deadline you need to meet. There will ALWAYS be laundry that needs to be folded and put away.
And guess what?
Those things will be there after your workout, too. So you might as well take an hour for yourself, right? (Right.)
Today I’m sharing my 5 tips for staying motivated to workout. And yes, the first one has to do with clothes. (Obvs.) Stage Stores is my new favorite spot to find awesome workout clothes at such great prices. Because while I do want to look cute, I still can’t bring myself to spend a fortune on workout clothes.
This Puma tank is easily my new favorite workout tank. It’s cropped, but not too short, so I don’t feel like my little mama belly is too exposed. And isn’t this color so pretty?? I’m wearing a size small.
I’m such a sucker for Adidas kicks, and I love how feminine these are. They run a little big, so you might want to size down if you’re in between sizes.
My Nike leggings are perfect for either running around town or your favorite yoga class and they’re currently on sale!
And when my sports bra is this cute, I have to show it off, right??
I love to update my activewear each season, and I’ve been loving the summer selection at Stage Stores!
5 TIPS FOR STAYING MOTIVATED TO WORK OUT
NEW WORKOUT CLOTHES. Nope, I’m not kidding. This really is my biggest tip for staying motivated. There really is nothing better than having some new fitness duds to throw on and get all sweaty and gross.
SET OUT YOUR WORKOUT CLOTHES THE DAY BEFORE. That way, you have no excuse not to put them on the first thing in the morning. And once you have your workout clothes on, you might as well workout, right? (I even know a few people who sleep in the workout clothes so they’re ready as soon as their eyes open. That’s a bit much for me, but hey, whatever works!)
GET IT DONE IN THE MORNING. If I don’t get my workout done in the morning, chances are it’s not going to happen. Even if I have the best intentions to work out when the baby goes down for her afternoon nap, something will always come up. (I’m looking at you, 3-almost-4-year-old who no longer naps.) So, I set my alarm early and get it done, before I have time to talk myself out of it.
FIND A WORKOUT BUDDY. Granted, these days it’s harder to be able to workout with a friend, but it’s always helpful to have someone I can plan workouts with. And even if we don’t workout together, we can check in with each other to make sure we’re staying on track with our fitness.
MUSIC, MUSIC, MUSIC. When all else fails, get some good music going and just MOVE. It might not be your best workout ever, but something is better than nothing and I dare you to listen to your favorite workout song (Cardi B, anyone?) and not get moving.
