12 (Stylish) Handbags That Double As Diaper Bags

Before I had a baby, I remember talking to my mom about being cool. Like, would my cool factor totally disappear once I have a child?

(Thankfully I’m still VERY cool…)

Ok, there are some cute diaper bags out there. But overall, it’s a category that isn’t normally considered “cool,” amiright? I mean, the patterns, the shapes – would you ever carry some of these bags in your everyday non-mama life? Probably not. (In the widget below I’ve linked some diaper bags that I like and are actually chic in case you want to go that route.)

And if you haven’t noticed, diaper bags aren’t cheap. They typically run you a pretty penny – so why not invest in a bag you can actually use for more than a couple of years?

Since becoming a mama, I’ve had a couple of handbags that I’ve rotated and that work perfectly as diaper bags. This one  (shown in featured image) has been my go-to for over a year. It’s been through a whole lot, and still looks pretty darn good. Also, I’ve talked a lot on here about my adoration for this tote. It’s perfect for when you’re going to be gone for awhile and need a whole lot of stuff.

There are a lot of stylish handbags out there, but most can’t double as diaper bags. Here are the things I looked for when choosing these bags:

  • Durability – These babies have to stand up to a lot of throwing around, so you need something that will LAST.
  • Easy To Clean – No high maintenance fabrics! Motherhood is MESSY, y’all.
  • Structure – No floppy bags, please!
  • Roomy – Cus motherhood = A WHOLE LOT OF STUFF.

And last but not least, here is a little secret weapon that you can use to turn these handbags into functional diaper bags. All diaper bags need a changing pad and compartments, right? Well, just place this little gem into any of the bags below, and you’re good to go, mama.

Have you ever used your handbag as your diaper bag? Let me know in the comments below!

  • Kate A

Really, only $44 for that reversible bag?! That’s like getting 2 bags for $22 each which is a crazy good deal. Might need to place an order for that one!

  • Jeeyoung

All of these are so cute! I need to pick up a never full in the white logo print for summer!

  • Meredith Weston-Backaitis

I love all of these options. I tend to go for just a large purse too! My Tory Burch and LV are also my go to’s.

  • Chelsea

I love my LV neverful. It can get a bit heavy at times and the straps are a little small to carry on the shoulder sometimes, but it’s a gorgeous bag. I use the Longchamp for travel. They are so great a durable.

I have a traditional diaper bag, which is great on the stroller. When I baby wear, however, there is no way I’m going to lug that thing around. I use my Longchamp bag and pack only the essentials. It’s so convenient. Thanks for sharing this post!

  • Sharon Chen

Wide bags are really great for kids’ stuff (with mom’s stuff). Love the choices of bags you got there!

  • Lauren

Such great bags!! Thanks for sharing!

  • Amanda Kruse

I would love to get my hands on that LV neverfull. I opted for a really cute patterned diaper bag from Vera Bradley.

Yes to all of this! I have a few of these bags actually! I love being able to carry a regular tote or crossbody and still have all of my mom stuff with me!

I wished they had these kinds of stylish bags when I was having my little one. Maybe they did and I just couldn’t find them, lol.
