Before I had a baby, I remember talking to my mom about being cool. Like, would my cool factor totally disappear once I have a child?
(Thankfully I’m still VERY cool…)
Ok, there are some cute diaper bags out there. But overall, it’s a category that isn’t normally considered “cool,” amiright? I mean, the patterns, the shapes – would you ever carry some of these bags in your everyday non-mama life? Probably not. (In the widget below I’ve linked some diaper bags that I like and are actually chic in case you want to go that route.)
And if you haven’t noticed, diaper bags aren’t cheap. They typically run you a pretty penny – so why not invest in a bag you can actually use for more than a couple of years?
Since becoming a mama, I’ve had a couple of handbags that I’ve rotated and that work perfectly as diaper bags. This one (shown in featured image) has been my go-to for over a year. It’s been through a whole lot, and still looks pretty darn good. Also, I’ve talked a lot on here about my adoration for this tote. It’s perfect for when you’re going to be gone for awhile and need a whole lot of stuff.
There are a lot of stylish handbags out there, but most can’t double as diaper bags. Here are the things I looked for when choosing these bags:
- Durability – These babies have to stand up to a lot of throwing around, so you need something that will LAST.
- Easy To Clean – No high maintenance fabrics! Motherhood is MESSY, y’all.
- Structure – No floppy bags, please!
- Roomy – Cus motherhood = A WHOLE LOT OF STUFF.
And last but not least, here is a little secret weapon that you can use to turn these handbags into functional diaper bags. All diaper bags need a changing pad and compartments, right? Well, just place this little gem into any of the bags below, and you’re good to go, mama.
Have you ever used your handbag as your diaper bag? Let me know in the comments below!
