Is Sobriety Really Easier Than Moderation?

Podcasts

July 24, 2023

“99% is a bitch. 100% is a breeze.”

– Annie Grace

This could not be more true about moderation and sobriety.

The mental gymnastics of moderation can be exhausting and terribly shame-inducing. It puts all of the pressure on you to control the situation, and it erases the facts about alcohol… such as the fact that alcohol is one of the most addictive drugs in existence.

Today, I encourage you to consider a path where you truly are in control: sobriety. It might feel like a dramatic change, but just ask yourself what could be waiting for you on the other side.

For me and so many women, a life of sobriety is one of relief, growth… and freedom.

So, the next time you ask yourself, is sobriety really easier than moderation?, remember to pause, consider to choose on things that help us cope, feel things, heal, connect and have fun without alcohol. You will find yourself not counting down to when you can drink again, instead you’ll be focusing on a full, gratifying and nourished life.

I really appreciate this episode. I am 7 months sober and have recently been day dreaming about wine and thinking of a time I will allow myself wine in moderation and if I truly want to break sobriety to allow Wine after 1 year of sobriety. Thank you for this episode. Moderation is hard. Sobriety is easier, except I am going through a phase where I am idolizing wine and day dreaming about a new relationship with wine, it is kind of like recalling only the positives of a past relationship that ended, however the relationship ended for a reason.

Hi Amber! Congrats on 7 months! That’s huge. Thank you so much for sharing this – and please know you’re not alone. It’s so common to forget the truth about alcohol, especially when the hangovers are long gone. I find it helpful to think of the 3rd drink, not the 1st. Also, remind yourself what you’ve learned in the past 7 months – no just about how horrible and dangerous alcohol truly is, but everything you’ve gained in sobriety. Keep going ✨
