Happy Wednesday, sweet friends! My Baby Gray turned 5 months old last week! He’s such a chill, happy baby and is such a joy to be around. I can’t remember a time before him and he’s completed our family just perfectly.
I hope you enjoy this 5 month update!

BABY GRAY UPDATE | 5 MONTHS
WEIGHT
Baby boy sure is growing! I’m not exactly sure how much he weighs since we don’t have an appointment again until 6 months, but I think he’s around 14 pounds. He’s a little peanut, but one with delicious rolls. Perfect.
BREASTFEEDING
Still going! I swear, I have such a love/hate relationship with breastfeeding. (OK, hate might be too strong. Maybe love/dislike is more appropriate.) I cherish the connection it allows, and I love the alone time with my him that is so rare in our busy, bustling home.
But man, it’s A LOT. I am still nursing him about every 2-3 hours during the day, trying to tank him up so he can sleep at night. At times I feel tethered, unable to do…well, anything that takes longer than 2 hours. I’m always on the clock – on call and required to step in at a moment’s notice.
I have times when I think: “OK, that’s it. I’m done. Soon.” But then my tender mama heart reminds me that this is my last babe and that this too will pass all too quickly.
He’s starting to pull and scratch and pinch and grab while he nurses, and while I’ll spare you the details of exactly where that’s happening, I’ll just say: OUCH.
He’s not taking a bottle, which we are working on (half-heartedly). My oldest didn’t take a bottle until around 9 months when I went out of town for a trip, so I’m not too concerned.
FOOD
I keep forgetting that I should probably start thinking about food for him! Ha. He quickly reminds me, though. Every time I eat, his eyes are locked on my food and he starts chewing the air. It’s adorable and a sure sign that he’s getting ready for the real stuff. I’ve tried to give him some avocado and he can’t quite get that tongue out of the way, so we’ll try again soon.
ROUTINE
We’re still not on a strict routine, and probably will never be. #thirdbaby We are falling into more of a rhythm, though: wake up, nurse, play, nap and repeat throughout the day until around 630pm when he goes down for the night.
SLEEP
Ugh. Sleep. Sweet, sweet sleep. It’s a grab bag, you guys. And I’m so not committed to sleep training, so I’m stuck with it until I can get my act together. Some nights he sleeps through, and other nights he’s up 3 times. I welcome 1 night wakeup because that’s such a special time, when the rest of the house asleep, but I draw the line at 2. And 3?! Come on. That’s just bananas. But, baby boy doesn’t agree with this line of thinking, so…
He’s sleeping in the Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit and because I refuse to buy another one, it’s pink. Which is adorable.
MILESTONES
He’s rolled over both from front to back and back to front, but he’s not overly excited to do it.
He seems to be working on sitting up instead – doing little baby crunches every time he’s on his back. He LOVES bouncing in this bouncer – his little legs just going nonstop.
His bottom teeth STILL have not come in, which is shocking because he’s been hardcore teething for months. The girls’ bottom teeth came in around 4 months, so I thought for sure they’d be in by now.
He’s giggling and belly laughing so much and it is just the best sound in my entire world. He LOVES his sisters and doesn’t even mind when they plant juicy kisses on his chubby cheeks.
