Happy Monday! I hope you enjoyed a fine summer weekend. We certainly did. Saturday night we attended the most gorgeous summer wedding at The Field Museum. It may just go down as the wedding of the year…
I love a good excuse to put on my heels and get dressed up. It was a welcome departure from my normal mom uniform. And since the reception was at 6pm, I decided to go with something a bit more dressy. The occasion definitely called for it.
And YOU GUYS. I’ve discovered something life-changing. I decided to rent my dress this time with Rent The Runway. How have I never done this before?! I have so many dresses in my closet from past events that I’ve only worn once. And, I just couldn’t pass up the chance to pay only $55 for a dress that retails for $465! They make it super easy, and even provide you with a back-up size just in case. I absolutely LOVED my dress. You can check it out (and rent it!) here.
My heels are from a couple of years ago, but you can find other cute options here (on sale!) and here. Since I went with color on my feet, I kept my clutch simple. I’m really loving this black clutch right now, and would be a perfect choice.
Figuring out what to wear to a summer wedding sometimes can be tricky. Is it going to be hot? Rain? Chilly? During the day? Evening? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Shop my top choices below for both day + evening weddings.
I’ve also scoured Rent The Runway and I’m sharing my fav picks below.
(And of course, I’ve included a photo of The Mister. He just looked too good.)
Here’s to a wonderful week!

For a summer daytime wedding, think fun and bright colors. I love to go for short dresses in the summer. Show off those tan gams, girl!
Unless it’s a formal wedding, I still like shorter lengths for a summer evening wedding. If you go with a gown, make it something ethereal and flowy. This is also the perfect occasion for something a bit sexier and lux than daytime weddings.
