Happy Thursday, sweet friends!
Taking a break from all things Gift Guides and holidays and sales to talk about my sweet boy. Also: HOW IS HE 3 MONTHS OLD ALREADY? I just can’t believe it. I’ll be sharing a separate postpartum update soon! Today’s update is all about baby boy.
Before I get into the update, I want to thank Walmart for partnering with me on this post. Are you even a mom if you haven’t ordered something from Walmart in the middle of the night, to have it delivered next day? Their next day delivery on must-have #momlife has saved me many times.
Walmart has also been one of my go-to for baby boy’s clothing and bedding. They recently launched Little Star Organic Bedding, which is their exclusive 100% pure organic cotton bedding line, and we’ve been loving it.
How adorable are these little woodland creatures? This crib sheet set is super soft and you just can’t beat the price – less than $20 for a set of 2 crib sheets.
This 100% organic reversible quilt is so comfy and we’ve been snuggling up with it a whole lot lately. It’s currently on sale for less than $21!
BABY GRAY UPDATE | 3 MONTHS
WEIGHT: I’m not exactly sure about this yet because our appointment is later this morning, but I’ll stop back to update this! I’m thinking he’s probably about 12 pounds… (UPDATE: He’s 24 inches and 12 lbs 8 oz. Yay!)
BREASTFEEDING: We’re still going strong! Baby boy is a great nurser – I think the best of all 3 of my babes. Although, maybe it’s just that I’m more comfortable since he’s my third. We’re still on an every 2 hour schedule during the day. I try to make sure I really fill him up during the day, in the hope that he’ll sleep longer at night.
I’m still taking Sunflower Lecithin everyday to help keep plugged ducts and mastitis at bay. So far, so good. With both girls I’d had it at least twice already by now, so I’m thinking this is the difference. (But still knocking on wood.)
I’m still planning on breastfeeding him exclusively until 6 months (or whenever we begin to introduce solids – maybe a little before 6 months if he’s showing signs of being ready).
He took his first bottle of pumped breastmilk the other day! I was at my workout class and my mom was with him and he took it without a problem. Phew. My first baby never took a bottle, so this was a huge sigh of relief.
SLEEP: Ahhh, sleep. Sweet, sweet sleep. Well, this one is up and down. Touch and go. Pretty unpredictable. We were on a great stretch for the first 2 months, but then baby boy got his first cold. (His stuffy nose and cough totally break my heart.)
He will have a few good nights, but then he’ll be up a few times to nurse the next few nights. I’m trying to roll with it and just remember that this is just a season and we will all sleep through the night once again. (Right…?)
That sweet face…
MILESTONES: He’s smiling and laughing and I’m reminded that a baby’s laugh really is THE best sound in the whole entire world. I could spend all day trying to make him laugh. He is really very smily – as soon as he sees one of us, his whole face lights up and breaks into that sweet gummy smile.
He’s recently found his hands and has been working overtime chewing on those little fists.
He’s cooing up a storm and one of my favorite things to do is have little “conversations” with him.
TEETHING: Yep, we’re already talking teething. Both of my girls got their teeth around 4 months, and I’m pretty sure baby boy is going to follow suit. He’s super drooly and wants to chew on anything and everything. I know it can take a long time for the teeth to pop through, but I’m pretty sure I can feel them right below his gums. This could also be why sleep has been a bit harder lately.
Stay tuned – I’ll check with our Ped today and come back with an update. (UPDATE: Yep! He’s definitely teething. She said the teeth aren’t popping through yet because they ridge is still on his gums, but they’re on their way…)
STRUGGLES: Overall, he is the sweetest and most easygoing baby ever. Some days he’s more clingy than others, and that’s when this baby carrier comes in handy.
His gas has gotten much better in the last month – I think it’s just a case of his little digestive system maturing. I’m able to enjoy my favorite salads again, which makes me happy for sure.
