Our Mudroom Design + Organization

My Kind Of Sweet Home

April 30, 2020

Hi, sweet friends.

Endless time at home means a whole lot of nesting. (Well, nesting and cleaning and yelling at my kids to stop eating so many damn snacks and treats. But, that’s another post.)

I snapped these pics of the mudroom yesterday morning after cleaning up this space. NO, it doesn’t always look like this. Actually, I don’t think it’s ever been this clean…

I’ve been trying to get more organized and have recently found some baskets and crates for our mudroom, so I wanted to share…

These crates are a recent find, and they couldn’t be more perfect for this space. I took a chance and ordered 4 of them, unsure if they would fit and knowing that I’d be stuck with them because there’s no way I’m going to Target or the Post Office. (You might be thinking: Suz, why didn’t you simply look at the dimensions? to which I would reply: I don’t do dimensions.) They fit perfectly and go so well with the wood bench and our flooring

We didn’t build this house, so I don’t have the exact sources for a lot of the finishings. But, I did find very similar oil rubbed bronze hooks. I love how they pop on the white.

I knew we needed a rug that could handle a lot of foot traffic, while still being stylish. I found this one a few months ago on Terrain, and I knew it was the one. (Love at first sight. Ha.)

These rope baskets were a game-changer for our mudroom organization. It’s where I throw all of the hats and mittens and things that kiddos generally leave lying around. Also, I have extra socks in the top basket, because we ALWAYS need socks.

Another MacKenzie-Childs rug. I just can’t stop.

Love your content! Random question… is that bathroom off the mudroom an additional bathroom? Do you have a guest bathroom as well near the front of the house? Contemplating doing this and would love your thoughts/experience!

Hi Carla – thank you! Yes, it’s a half bath that we use when we come in from the garage. It’s more of a casual bathroom – we have a more formal half bath for guests to use, too. I love having 2! Hope this helps 🙂 xo
