What’s In My Makeup Bag

Beauty, Makeup

April 3, 2018

Hi, friends! I’m a day late with this post, and if you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my Stories and you understand why.  I don’t want to get into the nitty gritty, but let’s just say my Easter weekend was full of puke and poop. (Think baby and dog.)

OK, enough with real life, can we talk about pretty things now? Thanks. I’ve been wanting to share my makeup tried and trues for awhile now. These are the products that I’ve been wearing awhile (in some cases for 10 years) and LOVE.

Let’s just get right to it, shall we?

🙂

XO

What's in my makeup bag
Milk makeup blur stick

Milk Makeup Blur Stick

I’m still not sure how this magic little stick works, but it does. You know that filter on Instagram Stories with all the little sparkling things that come raining down to make you look flawless? That’s this. But in real life. I use it after my moisturizer and before my foundation.

Beautycounter Touchup Skin Concealer Pen (in Light)

A good concealer is a tired mama’s best friend and this one is the one you call when you need someone who just understands you. I use it under my eyes (obvs) and on any imperfection. I can’t recommend it enough.

Moisturizer, brush, makeup

Beautycounter Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer (in No. 2) | Clinique even better makeup | Shiseido Foundation Brush

Let’s call these little guys the trifecta.I love the slight dewy look the Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer gives me. It feels like satin and was an Allure’s Best Of Beauty Award Winner. Need I say more?

I’ve tried so many foundations, and I keep coming back to this one. The shade, the coverage, the feel. I love it. It’s not heavy, yet provides great coverage.

I’ve just recently started using this brush, and I’m hooked. I remember the Cosmetics manager at Bloomie’s saying “You wouldn’t paint your house with your hand, so why paint your face that way?” It stuck with me and I’ve been a believer in brushes ever since.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder + Velour Puff

I don’t use this every single day, but on the days when I want to make sure my makeup stays put, this is my secret weapon. I like that it’s translucent and doesn’t change the color of my face.

If you get the powder, it’s worth it to go for the velour puff, too. It helps a lot with even application.

Beautycounter Powder Blush Duo (in Bloom/Tulip) | NYX brush (c/o)

Beautycounter Powder Blush Duo (in Bloom/Tulip) | NYX brush (c/o)

Hands down, THE best blush I’ve ever used. I absolutely love this stuff. The shades are SO pretty and it stays on. I used to be on the bronzer train, but lately I’m all about pink blush. There’s just something about the youthful glow it gives me. I need it. I was gifted this brush, and I’m impressed.

Beautycounter Sheer Lipstick (in Petal) | Neutrogena Hydro Boost lipgloss (in Radiant Rose)

Beautycounter Sheer Lipstick (in Petal) | Neutrogena Hydro Boost lipgloss (in Radiant Rose)

My 3 year old is already stealing my lipgloss, but I can’t say I blame her. I’ve been wearing this lipstick since last year. It’s a perfect choice for every day, since it’s not super dark, but adds the perfect touch of color and is very moisturizing. I just discovered this lipgloss a couple of months ago, and I have 3 of them: one for the car, one for my bathroom and one for my handbag. It’s a good life decision.

Tarte Highlighting Eyeshadow Palette Vol. III - Rainforest Of The Sea Collection

Tarte Highlighting Eyeshadow Palette Vol. III – Rainforest Of The Sea Collection

If this isn’t the prettiest palette you’ve ever seen… (That’s the end of the sentence. It IS the prettiest palette ever.) It has just the right amount of shimmer and it stays on all day. Plus, it looks really pretty in your makeup bag.

Maybelline Unstopabble Eyeliner (in Black) | Beautycounter Color Define Brow Pencil | Beautycounter Volumizing Mascara

Maybelline Unstopabble Eyeliner (in Black) | Beautycounter Color Define Brow Pencil | Beautycounter Volumizing Mascara

This eyeliner is the most tried and true of the bunch. I’ve been using it for SO long. 10 years maybe? It’s SO good. It doesn’t smudge or smear, but it comes off easily with makeup remover. Pretty sure I’ll never stray.

I started using this brow pencil last year, and I don’t think my brows have looked better. I don’t have full brows (hey, over-plucking in high school), but these do the trick. Plus, there’s a little brush on one end to help them look natural.

I love this mascara because it makes my lashes look full, but still natural. And, it doesn’t flake. Yay.
