Mama Life Lately…

Mama

September 21, 2016

Sometimes I post about my style, my favorite recipes and my thoughts. But sometimes I just want to show what’s been going on in life lately. And generally, Harper is what’s going on in my life lately. She keeps mama life interesting and busy and fun, that’s for sure.

I know I’m going to forget these moments. I want to cement them in time. So I can come back and reminisce and cry in my coffee when she’s sixteen and off in the world. (Also, I totally suck at printing my photos so I need to share them somehow.)

This little girl keeps me on my toes. When I imagine adding another one into the mix, I get a little freaked out. How is that going to work? Logistically? (I know millions of people do it, but I’ve never done it.) Accepting any and all tips…

Also, we are slowly venturing into the whole potty-training business. Harper’s decided that she wants to go on the potty sometimes, but not all the time. Any tips for how to transition? I was NOT ready for this to happen so soon. I’ve been putting it off, but it looks like she has plans of her own…

Here’s a little look into my mama life right now…

(Scroll down to the bottom of the post to see Harper’s favorite toys..)

Happy Friday, mamas. We made it.

Mama life

The Mister cut her bangs. (And yes, we’re still married.) Oh, poor girl.

Mama life

Such a little ham. This is her “smiling” for the first day of 2’s preschool. The faces she makes are just hilarious.

 THIS! Miracles DO happen. <3

Pregnancy still leaves me pretty tired at the end beginning of the day, so toys have been key to keep Harper somewhat entertained. Here are some of the toys she’s loving lately…

  1. Mary Barham says:

She is absolutely precious! I want to cement my momebts with my babies as well… Time goes by way too fast!

  2. Nina says:

Very sweet! I learned that kids will go potty when they’re ready. Always ask and encourage, but be ok if they don’t want to go. The more you praise the successful potty times, the prouder she’ll get and want to do it more often. Eventually she’s going to be a big girl. Good luck!!

  3. Lauren says:

So sweet! They grow up so quickly.. it really is sad!

  4. candy says:

What a cute and good luck with the potty training.

  5. So beautiful #1 & it’s so important to keep the pictures for me too. I don’t have the memory by beautiful sister has…I am so envious of her memory & story telling gift. When I think I remember something from our childhood or adventures in raising baby boys 3 months apart, I just call and ask Krissy. <3
PS my son is 16…it feels crazy. I remember his chubby little arms & sweet smile then look over to see him driving me to a friend's house as he learns to drive….SURREAL for sure.

  6. Harper is just a doll! Looks like she’s such a great helper and will be ahead of the game on potty training. I know she keeps you busy but brings you SO much joy! Soooo precious!!!

  7. Kim says:

Sounds like our littles are much alike – busy and cute all in one! That puppy picture is too cute!! And, I am all ears for the potty training – we’ve been doing great then hit a few bumps just this week. Thanks goodness for Friday!

  8. I was just thinking today how much I miss my children being little! They DO grow up so fast and I wish I had more pictures of the times they were small! I wish I’d stopped more times and just enjoyed the age they were. Lesson for the age they are now!

  9. Harper is adorable! I just had my fourth (like woah) …and when I say “just had” I mean like 6 days ago!! Another like woah. I was uncertain how it would all look adding more kids to the mix and with each one my heart and love has multiplied! Someone told me my heart would double – not divide and they were so right. My oldest a little girl has been the biggest blessing and my advice I always give is to include the other kids in everything so they feel like they are a part of the new baby – not being push aside cause of the new kid! As for logistics?? Not sure how that actually works…I just run around like a chicken with my head cut off, but it works out most of the time! 😉

  10. Harper is so cute! It’s really amazing when a new baby is added to the family. Your heart expands to love this child just as much as your oldest, but in a completely different way. I know it makes no sense, but trust me, your baby will be loved. My best tip to you would be to enjoy special Mommy and Harper time before baby comes. Encourage your husband to do Daddy and Harper times, because chances are that they’ll have to be buddies for a little while after baby comes.

  11. Morgan says:

Such a little beauty! Love the pics of her first day of preschool- those faces!! Hope you’re enjoying your first days of fall with your little!

  12. Cute! It’s true when they say that no matter how many kids you have, you’re always a first time Mom. When your second comes you’ll be a first time Mom of 2! It’s definitely an adjustment but you’ll get the hang of it. Also, my youngest decided to use the potty sometimes. she did it every night for about a week. One morning I asked if she wanted panties in the morning and we haven’t looked back since. There have definitely been some accidents but not major setbacks. Every child is different though, you’ll get to know what works for her and what doesn’t!

  13. Rachel Lynn says:

These pictures are so darling! Life flies by so fast and its so good to have memories to hold onto 🙂 She looks so darling!

  14. cara says:

She is so precious! Haha love the “bang-trim” she got! 😉 Honestly, with potting training it’s all waiting for them to be ready. I tried a little too early with my oldest and we ended up spending months and months trying to get him potty trained when truthfully he just wasn’t ready yet. I do hear that it’s supposedly easier for girls though, so fingers crossed for you!

  15. Amber Starr says:

I loved this type of post! I always feel like doing the same type, but it just never happens. These moments fly by and I feel like my memory fails me at times. I definitely need to start writing and posting about every day life more.

  16. Savannah says:

Ah, she is soo sweet, and an absolute doll!
I totally know what you mean about wanting to cement memories and moments in time. Life is fleeting, it truly is, and having a blog is such an incredible way to, sort of, hold the time. I’ve been dabbling a little into potty training with my son, and it’s definitely a whole world of confusion for me-but isn’t all of mama life?! Thanks so much for sharing <3

  17. Oh! I love seeing little peeks into your daily life! your baby with your dog is too cute!
